Barcelona has long been known as an unforgettable city of culture, beauty and art. This passionate capital of Catalonia has a lot to offer travelling visitors. When exploring this vast city, a walk along the Ramblas is relaxing way to take in the local street musicians and jesters.
A train ride on the local Tramvia Blau to the top of the Tibidabo will provide visitors with some of the most spectacular views of the city below. Afterwards, head back down to enjoy a sunset drink on the Barceloneta beach at a chiringuito bar. If energy is still with you, join the locals for a pub-crawl or two at the Barri Gotic where you will discover a wide array of wine bars, tapas bars, Irish pubs and cocktail lounges.
Barcelona has a large selection of monuments that can make for wonderful historical adventures. Visit the Sagrada Familia, Gaudi’s unachieved cathedral, and La Pedrera, another of Gaudi’s impressive works. The Gothic Church of Santa Maria del Mar with its famous stained glass windows is another must-see attraction. The Picasso Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona (MACBA) will also keep visitors amused.
Seeing Barcelona on foot is quite easily accomplished. It is the best way to explore places such as the Gothic Quarter streets, the Palau de la Musica Catalana in the El Born district, the Old Town as well as the old fisherman’s village of Barceloneta. These streets will eventually take you all the way to La Cuitadella, the garden of Barcelona.
You will find plenty of good value apartments in Barcelona to rent for your next holiday in this fantastic city.
