Quick Guide to Madrid

Madrid is full of hidden gems, many of which should be enjoyed during a visit to this magnificent city. Some of the main things to see and do in Madrid include a visit to the Royal Palace, which is the largest Royal Palace in Western Europe. A visit to the Prado Museum and Reina Sofia Museum should not be left out.

Taking time to tour the city’s Plaza Mayor, the medieval Madrid, is worth the effort. There are countless nightclubs, discos, bars and pubs that can also be explored for night-time entertainment. Madrid is known to be a bit of a crazy city and going out for a night on the town can include a variety of clubs and bars.

Madrid NightlifeMadrid has six bars to every 100 people, which means it has more bars than any other city in the world. The nightlife begins at about 10:00 p.m. for local bars and midnight for dance clubs. Venues typically close around 6:00 a.m.

For a day of shopping, the Gran Via is one of Madrid’s main shopping streets. However, the city centre is where all the famous brand name shops will be discovered. All types of brand name clothing and jewellery will be found here.

To ease the hunger from a day of sightseeing, local bars offer tapas, the most common and local of cuisine. Madrid is a city known for its seafood and fish and many great dishes of this local staple can easily be found in many of the restaurants.

As a more flexible and often cheaper option  to a hotel why not consider Madrid apartments for your next break?
